I can't view my offline messages

Well when i log on to yahoo messenger and if i have any offline messages the box for the offline messages comes up but the offline messages can't come up because as soon as the box comes up, it freezes and sayd that it has to close because that program isn't responding. Please tell me how to fix that. I really need to know.
